Westnewton village in Spring The little farming village of Westnewton is a haven of peace and quiet. It lies to the north-west of the Lake District, less than 4 miles from the Solway Coast. Westnewton is a delightful village with its own pub, school and church. The village won Allerdale District's Best Kept Village competition in both 1990 and 1991.

Westnewton lies 2 miles north of the town of Aspatria. It is ideally situated for exploring the towns, villages and beaches of Cumbria's Solway coast, for visiting Cumbria's capital city, Carlisle, or enjoying the wonderful scenery in the nearby Lake District National Park.

Visitors are free to enjoy the peace and quiet of a traditional farming village. Fresh supplies are always available from shops in nearby Aspatria. The parish church of St Matthew's welcomes visitors on Sunday mornings, and the village pub, The Swan Inn, offers a variety of traditional beers, wines and soft drinks, and has a comprehensive and inexpensive bar menu.

For our younger visitors there is a wonderful new landscaped play area in the village with toddler equipment and an adventure course as well as picnic tables.

All in all Westnewton is a wonderful place to get away and enjoy the beauty of the Solway coast and the English Lake District.
